Knitting - Long-Tail Cast-on
Filed Under Howto | Comments Off
More free videos available online at www.knittinghelp.com. Double Cast-On aka Long-Tail Cast-On aka Continental Cast-On My favorite cast on method. This creates a nice, stretchy edge that works well for stockinette stitch or for ribbing. Easy to knit from, easy to pick up stitches from, this is also the fastest cast-on I know, once you get the hang of it. It’s even faster than Single Cast-On when you take into account that this method creates an already knitted row. (By the way, purl the …

What are some good fonts for knitting words into a sweater?
Filed Under Hobbies & Crafts | Comments Off
I’m knitting a baby cardigan with the baby’s name on the back. I can knit it in using either intarsia or fairisle method, but I’m wondering if there are any fonts that are easy to create a knitting chart from, that aren’t too blocky and still have some style to them. Does anyone have any experience with this?

How do you convert a knit stitch for knitting in the round?
Filed Under Hobbies & Crafts | Comments Off
I just bought a knit stitch reference book, and I’d like to use some of the stitches for mittens and socks. How do you convert a regular knit stitch pattern for knitting in the round? Do you only work right-side rows? Thanks.
Okay, I’ll give an example. Maybe I wasn’t clear. For example, on a flat piece of work, you would work stockinette st by knitting every stitch on the right side and purling every stitch on the wrong side. On circular needles or dpn’s, for stockinette st, you knit every round. So I’m wondering how you would convert a more difficult pattern stitch to work for circular needles or dpn’s.
