Where can I find websites for knitting in the rounds\w Free simple patterns?
Filed Under Hobbies & Crafts | Comments Off
I love to knit! Bottom line, I love knitting simple things such as afghans, simple sweaters, socks & hats. But when I surf the web I cannot seem to find websites that offer “simple, basic, pattern for FREE!” I make lots of things for senior’s, disable vetrans, and young mom’s who can’t afford pretty sweater sets for their young new born babies. I make the sweater sets\booties. Then, I throw in; receiving blankets, crib blankets, and others thing to complete the gift set for the new born. If anyone know of website that offer free pattern please email.

How do I adjust a knitting pattern for different yarn and needles?
Filed Under Hobbies & Crafts | Comments Off
I would like to make this hat for my husband.
http://marniemaclean.com/patterns/carlsbad/index.html
The pattern calls for US#1 knitting needles and fine gauge cotton yarn. If I want to use size 7 or 8 circular needles (that’s what I have) and use this great light weight yarn I already have, how do I adjust the number of stitches to cast on.
Thanks for any help you can provide!

Does anyone know how to knit a round on straight knitting needles?
Filed Under Hobbies & Crafts | Comments Off
I’m making a hat for myself, and I don’t have circular knitting needles. I’ve already knitted a few rows, and now it’s asking me to starting rounding. I don’t know how to round, and was wondering if it’s possible to knit a hat on regular knitting needles. Thanks.

Can anyone give me a knitting pattern for a Winnie the pooh baby blanket?
Filed Under Hobbies & Crafts | Comments Off
My cousin is having a Winnie the Pooh theme for her nursery/baby shower and I really wanted to knit her a baby blanket but I can’t find a good pattern. It has to be remotely easy since I haven’t been knitting that long, but I’ll try anything. Thanks in advance!

What needle length to use for knitting sweaters and other tops?
Filed Under Hobbies & Crafts | Comments Off
I’ve read that when knitting tops that it is better to use 24″ long needles. However, 24″ needles are circular needles.
Is it better to knit tops using circular needles? (Even if the pattern doesn’t call for circular needles)?
What would be a good length to use for knitting tops on regular single point needles?

How can I stop my knitting curling?
Filed Under Hobbies & Crafts | Comments Off
My knitting always curls at the edges, even when knitting garter stitch, and no matter what yarn I am using (whether wool, acrylic or another). I have tried casting on more loosely, but with no difference. I always block woollen pieces, which helps, but not with acrylic. Apart from crocheting the edges, which is good but not suitable for everything I make, is there another way to get my knitting to lie flat by changing the way I knit?

What size knitting loom should I get?
Filed Under Hobbies & Crafts | Comments Off
I am thinking of getting a knitting loom. I never knitted before, so this will be my first time. I saw that there are different sizes (10in, etc). The thing I’m not sure about is what size knitting loom should I get? I’m planning to make things like scarves, bags, and beanies.

What does “yfwd” mean in a knitting pattern?
Filed Under Hobbies & Crafts | Comments Off
My knitting pattern reads as follows:
“row 3: yfwd, k2″
I’ve read elsewhere that it’s a British abbreviation for yarn over, but it comes at the start of the pattern. I thought you could only do a yarn over between two stitches. Can you do it at the beginning of a row? (if so, how? I’m really lost on this one)
